Makeup for your Big Day
By Nancy Finnegan, makeup artist at So Vain Salon
Makeup and hair are minor wedding budget expenses in the grand scheme of wedding costs. You, the bride, are the main focus of the day; all eyes are on you, and you should have the picture-perfect face. I can enhance your face and features to ensure that we achieve wedding day perfection.

Your wedding is a special day and it requires both a special look and special makeup. You might be able to do a great job on your everyday makeup, but your wedding day is different. Most brides are nervous and would rather hire a professional to ensure the safety of a picture-perfect face and take no chances. I usually do a trial run-through with a bride and make note of the look we give her so that we can replicate it on her wedding day. I have more products and use different makeup and tools than what you might have in your everyday kit.

ABC’s Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “A Smile as Big as the Moon” shone a spotlight on Huntsville this winter with a story focused on space camp here at the Space & Rocket Center. One local teen shone some light of his own, starring as a space camp attendee in the movie. Tristan Hughes, a 16-year-old Huntsville High School student, shared with EVENT how he won the part over hundreds of actors all over the country and what the experience has taught him (one lesson: keep your tuxedo in a carry-on bag!).
The first thing I notice on clients when I’m doing makeup is the skin’s condition. It’s a vital part of makeup application and overall appearance of the face. As we’ve acclimated to our daily routine of getting ready in 10 minutes or less, rushing to work, getting kids to school and more, we spend less and less time caring for the one thing that people notice first: our faces. Did you know that every time you don’t wash your face at night you age yourself 7 days?! Add that up over time and realize how much we’ve actually aged ourselves from not doing one simple thing. It’s frightening to think that we’ve all been guilty of it at some point.
