Tracy Jones is CEO of Century Automotive Group, representing luxury brands BMW, Porsche, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover. Century is a multigeneration family-owned organization serving the Huntsville Community for 57 years. As a proven leader with a CPA background, she has grown her family business through discipline, innovation, and a people-first culture. What circumstances or person helped shape you in your career?
My father, John Shields, shaped my career more than anything. As a young girl, all I ever wanted to do was be a luxury auto dealer just like him! He was a tough act to follow, but I know he is proud of what I have accomplished.
What do you love most about your job?
The people who work at Century (and, of course, their families)! I get the opportunity to work with my husband of 39 years and our three sons daily – what a blessing. We are a family business that cares about our employees, our customers and our community!
What awards, accolades or accomplishments are you proudest of?
A career highlight was beating 20,000 other car dealers and being the first woman and the first Alabamian to win The Time Magazine Automobile Dealer of the Year! The Time Dealer of the Year is the most prestigious award, recognizing the top dealer in the country based on business acumen and community involvement. Being recognized by my peers on a national level was true validation of all the good things we do here at Century!
