What circumstances or person/people helped shape you in your career?

As I continue to advance in my career through the years, I reflect on this question more often and on a much deeper level. Early on, it was belief. Those who stood in my corner (Evans Quinlivan) seeing in me what I could not see within myself at that moment, pushing me to understand that discomfort was actually my friend, and that I could in fact do difficult things. I would learn what having a “life mentor” (Beth Martin) was, how rare and valuable it was, and that would become my soft spot to land on rough days. While even a mentor is difficult to find, a “life mentor” is as unusual as a penny becoming a dime. They’re a leader (Tim Singleton) who not only is your biggest advocate, sharing their knowledge, making those much-needed connections, looking for ways to promote/support you, but also in all aspects of life. The personal highs of the mountain top, the lows of the valley, the days of feeling lost, and all things that make us human. After about a decade, it was my voice. This is something all women must educate themselves on by becoming familiar with how to use it, when to use it, and understand that in some circumstances, silence is loudest. Our voice will be one of the main contributing factors as to how we are characterized based on how we use it, the tone we use, the message we relay, whether truth is spoken, and whether we can speak alone. Always keeping in mind, “Life and Death are in the power tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). Now after 25 years and counting, it is discernment. While I do believe this is a gift/blessing, it thus far is the toughest to embrace and in some cases endure. It allows the scales to be removed from your eyes and gives you the ability to see the “30-thousand-foot-view” as I’ve heard others refer to it. You begin to see situations and people for what they are instead of what is portrayed. You become more intentional and focused, maximizing every minute, and what you are seeking to achieve. The understanding of who you should surround yourself with, what is worthwhile, and trusting your insights allows you to accomplish goals in less time, with fewer obstacles, and have tangible results to continue to build on. Discernment has also entirely changed how I see obstacles and hardships. Those are actually gifts. Without them we would never understand our strength, where it comes from, learn that limits are only bound by our mindset. Hardships make us better, and they are a test that leads to the next blessing. Never forget that facts are truth. The truth is, to date, we all have 100% success ratio of making it through all of our past hardships!

What do you love most about your job?

Making a lasting impact for my clients, their families, and their companies. Whether that is through the service we provide, the knowledge shared through financial planning, thinking differently to provide a solution where others had none, or consulting on various aspects of business. Watching their families and/or companies grow, thrive, and transition through their journey. It really is the one industry that you can see “the behind the scenes” of every other industry while only working in one. My goal is to change the way Private Banking clients see, experience, and what they expect from the industry. Creating and providing a service to them so significant, that is priceless. My clients are truly priceless and the reason I love what I do!

What awards, accolades or accomplishments are you proudest of?

First and most importantly, being Mom to my 18-year-old son, Ian; my 14-year-old son, Aidan; and my 7-year-old daughter, Ellisyn. They will forever be my greatest accomplishments in life! They are and will continue to be the “upgraded” versions of me and will achieve far more than I ever will, as I know the plans God has for their life far exceed even their wildest dreams!
