On the Scene with Huntsville EVENT – Les Cheveux at Soakhouse

February 11, 2025/in Lifestyle

After experiencing the wonders of Les Cheveux at The Soak House & Soapery, Huntsville EVENT’s Owner/Director of Sales Carolyn Stephenson and Editor Lori Boatfield chatted with Soak House Owner Teresa Staggs about the treatment.

Tell our readers about Les Cheveux at Soak House. The treatment space alone is beautiful – so airy and filled with light. Therapeutically, what does the treatment offer?

We worked very hard to get everything just right for this new service. From the space, equipment, products and protocols, not to mention hiring four new employees and sending one of our long-time employees to school to become licensed to perform this service.

Les Cheveux is a 90-minute scalp treatment using traditional Japanese techniques to deep cleanse and detoxify the scalp while incorporating massage to stimulate blood flow and relieve tension. A light massage of the neck, arms and hands is performed while a warm steam towel caresses your face to help you fall into an even deeper state of relaxation. This service is concluded with a blowout that leaves your hair silky smooth and soft.

We offer four different protocols to suit each client’s specific needs.

HAIR GROWTH ~ DETOX/CLARIFYING ~ DRY SCALP ~ SIGNATURE BOTANICAL

From a therapeutic standpoint, this service promotes blood flow to the scalp which promotes hair growth, but it also detoxes and rids the scalp and hair of built-up impurities.

Many women in middle life are starting to experience thinning hair or hair loss. Can these treatments combat that? How does that work?

According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Paul Nassif, M.D., just like the skin on your face and body, dead skin cells of the epidermis slough off and regenerate new skin cells regularly (called cellular turnover.) The second layer of skin, called the dermis, contains hair follicles. When the scalp skin isn’t adequately nourished or exfoliated, dead skin cells, product residues, oils, and other impurities can build up, leading to clogged follicles, which impact hair growth.

I know you’re passionate about the product line used in this treatment. Can you include some information about it and explain why you love it?

We are proud to use Areté and Oway products in our Les Cheveux service. Areté’s formulations are filled with lush botanicals, rare aromatic oils, and precious plant butters that transform the hair and space. Without sacrificing performance for beauty, they are free from unnecessary ingredients known to be toxic to people and the planet. Areté’s products are free from more than 2,800 questionable or harmful chemicals. This includes the nearly 1,700 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals flagged by the Areté Conscious Beauty Counsel.

Areté Products Are Free From: Parabens • GMOs • MITs • Phthalates • Triclosan/Triclocarban • Animal-Derived Ingredients • Gluten • PEG/PG/PPG • BHA/BHT • Petroleum • Polyquaternium • Silicones* • SLS/SLES • Synthetic Fragrance • Artificial Colorants
