What do you love most about your job?
What I love most is getting to work with family every day. While it can have its own set of challenges, it’s also an opportunity to grow together, learning to respect each other’s strengths and, at times, even weaknesses. It’s actually in our weaknesses that we’ve learned to grow the most, realizing that God is in control of it all.
What nonprofits have you been involved in and why?
Working with local organizations here in our community is one of the most important opportunities we have as business owners. There have been many non-profits I’ve had a passion for over the years, but Kid’s to Love stole my heart, and I never quite got it back. Seeing the need, especially for young women aging out of foster care, tugged on my heart after working with CEO, Lee Marshall on the Davidson’s Farm & Whitaker Cottage Community project to build tiny homes specifically for these young women. Since that project back in 2022, I adopted (and now Haley’s Furnishings Co., has adopted) Kids to Love as our primary community philanthropy every year.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
One of the accomplishments I am most proud of was having the opportunity to be an Auburn cheerleader during my college years. It was one of the hardest dreams I ever had to work for, but it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I actually did not make it the first year I tried out, but it only made me stronger and became the drive for all the hard work I would have to put in to making the team my sophomore year. I was blessed to have the opportunity to cheer for the rest of my years at Auburn, and I specifically recall that monumental first Iron Bowl at Auburn my senior year in 1989. There will never be another one like it!
