Jeanne Allen

Owner/Broker Associate, Legend Realty

Jeanne Allen is an owner and Broker Associate with Legend Realty. Jeanne has helped her clients navigate the real estate market in Huntsville and Madison County for over 20 years. She is known as ‘Your Realtor for Life,’ and anyone who has ever worked with her knows she has a genuine love of people and is passionate about getting to know and keeping in touch with the families she serves.

Born and raised in Huntsville, Jeanne taught first and second grades for 25 years. Real estate has combined her passion for helping people with her love of community. She and her business partners, Dena and Jim Hoekenschnieder, envisioned opening a small boutique real estate company. They have worked hard to cultivate a familial environment and that camaraderie has helped Legend grow to over 190 agents in less than nine years.

Jeanne is married to Bobby Allen and they have five children, including a wonderful daughter-in-law and son-in-law and three precious grandchildren. She loves her role as “Gigi” and spending time with her family and her pets. Jeanne loves all animals; riding horses, hiking, snow skiing, working in her flower garden and doing anything outdoors. She supports many charities and those providing for children and animals are especially close to her heart.

When you were little, what did you dream of being when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I have always loved all animals! My parents were very supportive and allowed me to have dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs, turtles, fish and any other animal I brought home! I found out I was too “soft hearted” to be a vet. I love children and helping people, so that led me to teach elementary school for 25 years. I have now been helping families in the real estate business for 22 years. Service and helping others is truly a privilege!

What’s your favorite thing about living in the Huntsville/Madison County area?

I love the people! I was born and raised in Huntsville and everyone has always been so friendly and welcoming to new people moving into the area from all parts of the United States. There are plenty of outdoor activities throughout the year and lots of things for young professionals, singles, families and children to do every season. The downtown area has become revitalized!

What is your business philosophy?

I work very hard to exceed my clients’ expectations and go the extra mile for them. I think personal touch and communication are important, whether working with buyers or sellers. Rise everyday with the intention of serving someone. When you are passionate, you love your job and the people you work with, it no longer seems like “work.”

What do you love most about your job?

I love meeting and connecting with clients from all over the United States! It is a privilege and I’m passionate about helping others. I love watching the excitement and happiness on my client’s faces when they move into their new home. I also love helping people work through challenges to reach a goal. I am always learning and I do my best to give my buyers and sellers the highest level of service.

What organizations or nonprofits have you been involved with and why have these been important to you?

I volunteer at schools and animal organizations. Two that are close to my heart are Felines and Canines Hunter Stephenson Rescue Center and Therapy Partners.

The rescue center has saved over 13,500 dogs and cats since they opened in 2018! As a no-kill animal shelter, Felines and Canines is dedicated to providing a safe and loving shelter to abandoned, injured, abused and neglected animals until their permanent adoptive home is found. This amazing organization helps to strengthen the human/animal relationship through counseling, education and compassion.

Therapy Partners serves the Tennessee Valley, by providing Animal Assisted Therapy and comfort with registered teams of handlers and animals. Volunteers work in healthcare, education and military facilities. Each volunteer Handler Team (my dog, Dottie and I are a team) is committed to giving the gift of time and compassion to enrich the lives of others. Currently, there are approximately 35 handler teams who visit 43 different facilities and schools in North Alabama. These teams work with children struggling to read, people receiving cancer treatment, those in long-term care facilities, people suffering with anxiety, dementia patients, veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and many more.
