When you were little, what did you dream of being when you grew up?

What circumstances or person/people helped shape you in your career?

How has the business
community changed for women since you began your career?

Due to my dad’s chronic illness during my younger years, many “normal” childhood things looked different. Growing up with a parent who was in and out of the hospital really shaped my
world and caused me to look at my future differently. It wasn’t until I was a little older that I really began to dream about my career. When I did, it was less about what I specifically wanted to do and more about how I wanted to impact the world. The people in my life that helped guide me through the difficult circumstances around my dad’s illness showed me the importance of having someone in your corner during tough times. I knew I wanted to be that person to others and becoming a real estate agent really fit how I wanted to impact the world.

I watched my mom work hard to support our family, even in the midst of my dad’s devastating illness. When it was time to decide on what I wanted to do as a career, I had already seen examples of women in my family who led successful careers while also taking care of their families in my mom and grandmother. These women, and many other women before me, paved the way for my opportunity to have a successful career and also have the confidence to do so.

They also taught me that, no matter how old you are, it is never too late to begin a journey to achieve your goals.

These women made female-owned businesses possible in general. Our society and culture have changed in subtle, quiet ways to become more female-inclusive. The evidence is seen in things such as the gender demographic of higher education. As I started my MBA journey, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the gender divide among my cohort was much closer to equal than past years within similar programs. Examples such as this one show that inclusion of
women in the community and in business is ever-evolving and moving forward.

What do you love most about your job?

Selling or buying a home can be a daunting process for anyone. Having the expertise to help someone during a stressful time of life is an indescribable feeling. It is a priceless joy to get to use that expertise every day for my clients. I love that every day in the real estate world brings a new challenge in an ever-changing market. It has taught me how to adapt and grow into what each of my clients need.

What differentiates you from your peers or competitors?

Something that I love about doing real estate is that, if you go out and work hard for it, there is plenty of work to go around. Thus, there is no need for competition among agents. Our goal is,
and always will be, to serve the client in the best way possible.

What’s your favorite thing about living in the Huntsville/Madison County area?

Huntsville has been my home for all of my life. This has allowed me to have a front row seat to the transformations this beautiful city has gone through. A unique junction of Southern hospitality and rocket scientists, Huntsville’s diversity is unlike many cities in the general vicinity. I am fortunate to call such a wonderful city home.

What is your team’s mission statement?

Our mission statement, and the driving force in every decision we make as a team, is that we care. We’re not in this business to only make a living but to provide a quality service to the community. Ultimately, that is where “The Ones Who Care” came from and it is what compels us every day.

Do you have a favorite quote about powerful or strong women you’d like to share?

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”-Eleanor Roosevelt
