She has experience in goals based, cash flow, business transition and estate planning techniques. Prior to her time in financial planning, she worked with asset management and compliance.

Riley graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., with a bachelor’s degree in business and a finance concentration. Riley is a native of Huntsville, having moved back a few years ago with her husband Chris, a Pediatric Dentist at Whitesburg Pediatric Dentistry, and their three children, Mary Emens, Weller and Mac. In her free time Riley enjoys volunteering at her children’s school and coaching her daughter in volleyball.

What do you love most about your job?

My job is to help my clients reach their financial goals.  No one clients’ situation, experience, goals, or story is ever the same. I spend my days getting to know these amazing people and the steps they’ve taken to achieve success. I enjoy being a part of their journey and adding value to what they are trying to accomplish. As a Senior Relationship Strategist with PNC Private Bank, I serve as the primary advisor for my clients’ financial team.  Based on my clients’ needs, I develop strategies and bring in the partners to assist and create the ideal plan. PNC has armed me with an arsenal of resources of subject matter experts that serve as part of my team. PNC realizes that growing our clients’ wealth is best accomplished by educating them through planning. PNC has created a team that can help execute on the established plan and ensure our clients’ best interests have been served. I take great pride in what we can accomplish here at PNC.

What person helped shape you in your career?

My dad, Lee Hoekenschnieder, is a Huntsville native and began his banking career here almost 50 years ago.  He has been the most impactful person in my life.  He is kind, sincere, honest and incredibly hard working.  I have co-workers and clients alike that hold him in high regard and share heartwarming stories of his leadership and guidance. He has left a lasting impression in this community by doing right by the people he served.  I hope to have a similar impact in the lives of my clients, and to make their journey easier because I was a part of it.  I hope to build on the amazing legacy he has started, and to bring the same passion and integrity to everything that I set out to accomplish.

What’s your favorite thing about living in the Huntsville/Madison County area?

Huntsville has always been home for me, it’s where I grew up.  The people here are a mix of old and new and eventually the new become old, because they too find their home in Huntsville.  I think it’s the small town feel in what is now quickly becoming the “big city” that provides a sense of belonging and quaintness.  Not many places draw you in on a football Saturday like Huntsville does.  All it takes is walking into Star Market on game day to have a stranger strike up a conversation.  It’s a place I feel proud to call home.  All the concerts and activities out at Mid City, the parades, arts festivals, and farmers markets in downtown continue to bring people together.  There’s something for everyone in Huntsville and I am proud to be a part of this amazing community.

What differentiates you from your peers or competitors?

I have spent the last decade working in financial planning, providing cash flow analysis, retirement planning, estate planning and business transition planning to clients and their families.  My years of experience has allowed me to provide my clients with a high level of financial analysis.  I approach new and existing clients with a planning mind set.  Each clients’ goals, wants and needs are different and by using the planning process, I am able to better understand not only my clients’ goals but also their concerns.  Financial planning provides a road map for me and my clients by which to navigate.

Do you have a favorite quote about powerful or strong women you’d like to share?

“A strong woman knows she has strength enough for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is in the journey where she will become strong.” – unknown.

How do you create a work/life balance? What are you proudest of?

I am a full-time working mom and I have spent most of my career attempting to divide my time between family and work.  It’s a constant struggle to find balance and I admit, I don’t always succeed. It’s in these shortcomings or failures, however, that I am forced to take stock of all that I have accomplished to this point in my life.  I have been married for nearly 14 years and we have three crazy children that we love endlessly. With my financial and emotional support, my husband was able to complete dental school and a two-year residency. Together, we have recently purchased a pediatric dental practice in town – Whitesburg Pediatric Dentistry.  Finally, I was able to take advantage of this new opportunity at PNC and focus on my own career, to follow my passion and find what challenges me.
